Contest rules

Draft: these may change. Any change is posted on Instagram.

  1. Open to everyone, with no categories and no age limits. Entering is free: you do not need to buy anything.
  2. You have to be there, in person and in costume. Sign-up closes at 9:30 pm and the contest is at 10:00 pm.
  3. One entry per person.
  4. Minors need the consent of a parent or guardian to take part and to be photographed.
  5. Costumes for all audiences. Hateful imagery and mocking a culture, religion or group of people are not accepted.
  6. No real weapons or realistic replicas. Props must be lightweight, must not be thrown and must not be able to hurt anyone.
  7. The market's organizers decide who judges, at their discretion. Creativity, effort and presentation are what count. The decision is final.
  8. There are 4 winners, one for each prize listed above. Prizes are cash.
  9. Each participant is photographed as part of the contest. We post an image only if the person gives consent on social media, by tagging us or accepting the collaboration on the post. The profile must be public so we can see the tag. For minors, a parent or guardian gives it.
  10. If a costume or prop puts someone at risk, market staff can ask for it to be removed. Not following these rules can mean being left out of the contest.
  11. These rules may change. Any change is posted on our Instagram.
